Bearing the Bull

It’s no surprise

that the handsy

guys,

now the most

powerful

in the world,

assume that

ties and lies

are part of

enterprise,

and the skies

are not even

the limit.

They scoff

at “Hands Off”

protests

in each state,

recklessly

wrecking

the economy

globally,

and honestly,

I have no

idea why,

other than

retribution.

I don’t get

the vision

for this nutty

tariff decision

other than

incomprehension

of the value

of trade.

Afraid

of not being

the ultimate,

or being

in proximate

company

to the

most wealthy,

he writes

his history,

now ours.

His bull

unending,

pretending

to know

everything

or nothing,

depending

on the situation;

his solution-

“an economic

revolution”-

will leave

people

barely

able to

bear

the bear market.

His target

is anything

and anyone

he perceives

as having been

or could be

a threat.

Most remarkable

yet,

are those

still willing

to abide

the chilling

destructiveness

and bear

the bull

of “success”.

Tariffied

The duty-free

presidency,

except

to his own

constituency

of sycophancy,

who stigmatize

and compartmentalize,

can’t help

but

antagonize

for the

ego prize

and power.

Self aggrandizing,

without compromising,

he’s tariffizing

because

he can.

It’s hard

to know

how this

will go

and lead

to a reasonable

end.

And while

we’re on

the subject

of ending,

he’s sending

every hint

that his stint

as POTUS
will be continuous-

his happily

ever

after.

At least

Corey

Booker

and his

filibuster

took some

attention

away from

the Trump

bluster

to muster

energy-

the longest

in history-

to stand

up and

be heard.

The absurd

tariff policy

will directly

affect

everybody,

although

obviously,

some

much more

harshly

than others.

In his own

duty-free

universe,

only

the perverse

can reverse

what’s

been built

without guilt

as long

as his support

remains

strong.

But the insistence

of the resistance

requires

persistance.

That’s how

they brought

us here,

now tariffed.

Never Mind

If Bush’s

Brain

was nicknamed

Turd Blossom,

then what should

The Boss Man

name

the insane

DOGE guy,

Trump’s

AI?

Musk Rat?

That lacks

the punch

that

“Turd Blossom”

packs.

But the

so-called

genius serial

entrepreneur

will demur

to the hefty

jefe

the way

they all do,

regardless

of epithet

or slur

that did

ever

occur,

because

each one

consolidates

power.

Forget

their heartless-

ness;

their mindless-

ness

is worse.

The curse

of these

billionaires

now running

the show

and showing

US

how to ruin

everything,

is their

lack

of understanding,

never mind

caring.

The genius

of The US

has been

the power

of grace

and plurality

in our polity

and collective

identity;

in reality,

literally

work

in progress.

Not to digress,

but I suggest

that these

unstable

geniuses’

malfeasances

will be

not exactly

what they

have

in mind.

They never

consider

what isn’t

for them.

They are not

US.

Trump’s

artificial

intelligence

shows his

allegiance

with

a chain saw.

How macho

the show,

that will

grow

like a weed,

until

they succeed

in nothing

but bloodletting.

Aiding

and abetting

seems like

getting

and keeping

more power,

never mind,

financial

gain.

But the

economic

drain

won’t retrain

the mind

of this

wrecking

crew.

It’s what

they do,

never mind

what

they can

afford.

They hoard

and demand

for some

grand

faux theory

of efficiency,

by the

least

efficient

faux

omniscient

president

and co-

to co-

opt

it all

until

the fall,

which,

I wonder

if they

will ever

mind.

The Enemy of The Good

Forget

perfect.

The enemy

of the good

stood

in front

of the world

and hurled

lies

whopper

size.

The prize

denies

safety and

security

and the maturity

of institutions

for the immaturity

of the delusions

of grandeur.

To be sure,

the loyal

opposition

is in no

position

to continue

the sad

display

of cosplay-

so yesterday.

The enemy

of the good

has withstood

nearly

everything,

and the best

we can bring

are pink

and mini signs

and yelling?

We could

learn

a thing

or two

from those

who

craft

creatively.

The artistry

is in the policy,

not the display

of crazy

on the floor.

We may be

our own

worst enemy

unless

you forget

the enemy

of the good.

When people

forget

to bet on

the good,

for the sake

of the image

of strength,

the length

he’ll go

could forgo

what we know

and depend

upon.

For one

whose

encouragement

rests upon

punishment,

we can imagine

the torment.

But mere

lament

is losing

our way.

Who’s to

say what

will work?

But I know

what doesn’t.

It’s not a good

look

to use

the old

playbook,

when the guy

who reads

the room

better than

you assume,

suggests

the good guys

are the enemies.

Much

has been said

about what

has lead

to now.

How

could

we maintain

the good

when the enemy

of the good

is the status quo?

AP Test

Denying access

to the press

is expressly

unconstitutional.

But in

the delusional

MAGA world

where

executive orders,

closed

borders,

billionaire

hoarders,

and a propensity

to support

Putin

rather than

Zelensky,

they want

to undo

what took

80 years

to build.

Filled with

lust

for power,

they must

also feed

their incessant

greed,

apparently

at ludicrous

speed.

And who will

read

the news

anyway?

Product

placement

is Trump’s

encasement,

and in case

you missed

the chainsaw

massacre

at CPAC,

well…

that says

it all,

in fact.

Lack

of tact

is nothing

new

for this

wrecking

crew,

whose

head

prefers

instead

to suggest

“king”

has a nice

ring

to it.

And the left

goes wild

when the

man-child’s

posts

are the most

inflammatory,

which he

regards

as congratulatory.

At least

don’t feed

the beast!

Anyway,

he’s more

like an

emperor

than like

a king,

seeking

to acquire

an empire

with Greenland

and Canada,

and possibly

Panama.

It’s the same

idea

I call

Putinesca

sauce.

(The actual

sauce

of Italian

name

came

from “puttana”,

roughly meaning

a

whore.

What’s more,

it’s used

as an all-purpose

profanity;

kind of like

shit

or shitty.)

Currently

the AP

is fighting

back

against

this Putinesca-

Emperor- Wanna

Be,

suing

the administration

over the

Gulf of Mexico

name-change

fiasco,

after being

blocked

from any

presidential

event.

If MAGA

meant

freedom

of speech,

they wouldn’t

test

the AP

or breech

the constitution,

but their

solution

is deranged

evolution:

survival

of the

unfit.

Please

do not quit

paying

attention.

This

is

not just

a test.

The Associated

Press’s

successes

rest in

reporting,

while MAGA’s

puttana

rests in distorting.

Like policy,

the AP
matters

to a functional

democracy.

Center for Performing Arts

The current

administration

warrants

defenestration

not just for

politics,

but for culture

appropriation.

Aside

from turning

words

inside

out,

their clout

is about

hostage

taking,

faking

concern

with slash

and burn

to turn

our

government

into a lean

machine

while they

reap

the green.

It’s obscene.

At the center

is the artist

formerly

known

as mogul,

notable

for

obnoxious

behavior

and practices

questionable

at best.

Now,

at his behest,

names

have been

changed

to protect

the indecent,

while

the innocent

and efficient

are bought

out

or let go.

His compulsion

for attention

has led to

the extension

of presidential

execution

into

realms

not typical

of such

purview.

Recently,

he

replaced

the name

of the Kennedy

Center

for the Performing

Arts.

Oh the smarts

on that guy,

to try

to buy

enough

power

to be influential

in a universal

way.

He is the center

of performing

arts

if there’s

an art

to his performance,

or a brilliance

to his overhaul,

including

the hall

where the gifted

beyond the grifted

have exhibited

exceptional

grace and skill.

His will

will instill

worse than political

turmoil,

and foil

our best

prospects.

His “art”

of performance-

enhancement

of his enormous

lack-

is his ability

to hack,

backed

by big bucks

to buck

anything

and take

everything.

Entertaining

is his thing

as much

as purchasing.

If that’s an art,

he is at

the center;

performing

on stage

right,

while

the conforming

chorus

is ignoring

us.

If he’s

the center,

it will not

hold

forever.

He’s clever

and has

his

minions

with

bizarre

and hateful

opinions,

and a brash

way

that has

cultural

sway,

but his

curtain

will close

some day

anyway.

That day

won’t come

soon

enough.

The Brutalist (No spoilers here.)

Don’t read

the reviews.

Choose

to experience

without interference.

As adherents

to

coherence,

we try

to make sense

of the nonsense

that cruelty

induces

and reproduces

incessantly.

Patterns

familiar,

despite

the particular,

the resolute

brute

is a weed

at the root

who seeks

repute

and power

above all.

The pall

ever thickening,

ever sickening,

ever quickening

the fall

that seems

impossible

for survival,

whose revival

is always

somewhere

here

and there

sometime

within the

rhyme

of history.

Or

is it

organic

matter

that’s the

matter?

Like yeast,

the brutalist

beast

is like

a fungus

that lives

among us

fermenting.

Resenting

and unrelenting,

misrepresenting,

circumventing

convention,

the contention

of reinvention

and prevention

of dissension

will always

play

a part

for the brutalist,

whose

opposite

is the humanist.

With creativity

and resolve

we solve

for the time

being,

as humanely

and sanely

as possible.

Get comfortable

with selflessness.

It may not

be painless,

but much less

painful

than the brutal

creeps

that creep

back

and attack,

when we slack

off.

You don’t

need a review

to understand

this new

iteration

of the old

intention

of the brutalist.

The cruelest

abide

on the side

of hate

or remain

indifferent

to the stain

of the persistent

brutalist

illusionist.

That’s What She Said

In a play

of morality

the other

day,

a display

of truth

entered

the interfaith

service;

a great

service

to the country

and to

humanity,

but not

to the mendacity

of the new

administration.

Bishop Budde

plead

for mercy

on behalf

of those

threatened

by executive

orders.

In the corridors

of religion

her decision

to confront

the affront

to decency,

magnificently

reflected

with clarity

the necessity

of and for

dignity,

honesty,

and humanity.

Obviously

aggrieved,

Vance

shook his head,

disagreed,

as his boss,

ever

resentful

and always

peeved,

later

demanded

an apology.

Christian

conviction

finally

gave voice

when Trump

had no

choice

but

to hear

her

(and our) prayer.

His greatest

care

was being

dissed,

his ring

not kissed,

and boy,

was he

PISSED!

Also amidst

the insanity

that is officially

this presidency

the “MAGA GRANNY”,

as she

has been

dubbed,

snubbed

the president

and his pardon,

speaking

truth

to power.

A rioter

on 1/6/21

she received

a pardon

for her conviction

after serving

60 days

behind

bars.

Pamela Hemphill

has endured

the horrible,

after suggesting

that Trump

is a criminal.

She admitted

she committed

a misdemeanor

to which

she plead

guilty.

She served

her time

for her crime,

and now

suggests

she was

gaslit.

She thought

she knew

what was

true,

until

she broke

from groupthink.

Out from

the clink

she warned

others

not to drink

the Koolaid.

Unafraid,

she shared

her story

and continues

to face

the daily

onslaught

of anger.

The real

danger

to Trump

and MAGA
is truth

and authenticity,

and the critically

powerful

women

unofficially

(politically speaking)

speaking out.

No doubt,

they and others

will receive

threats

or tests.

They spoke

the truth

and invoked

a spark

of inspiration.

This administration

will fail,

because truth

will prevail

even when

hushed

or temporarily

crushed.

(Even in Russia!)

Just remember:

that(’s)

what

she said.

His Truth is Marching On

The Golden Age

of guiltless

gilt

is again

the rage

as the pendulum

tilts

away from

moderation.

The pull

of bull*#@!

and excess

never felt less

tension

in an ongoing

extension,

despite apprehension,

of our historical

monarchical

attraction.

It’s the trappings

and happenings

of power

and endless

stuff

that make

it so easy

to declare,

“enough

with compromise!

Super size

me!”

More

is better.

Greed is

good.

Look

what’s

happened

to

the neighborhood.

Intrinsic

to our politics

and capitalistic

society,

is all consuming

consuming

all

mixed with

hypocritical

piety.

It always

feels worse,

this curse

of ours,

wanting

more

to store

or spend

at the expense

of innocence.

Alongside

the tide

of excessive

pride

and greed

is our

profound

need

for individual

priority.

And now

notoriety

is an identity

politics

crisis.

Attempts

at opportunity

for historically

oppressed

minority

communities,

is seen

as threatening

the integrity

of the

majority

impending minority.

And how

best

to best

the rest

of us?

Outrage

us

with outrageousness

and muss

with the truth

regardless.

Some youth

know this;

others don’t

access

facts,

much less

analysis.

And as youth

would

have it,

an easy

fix

is to nix

what’s been

and fall

in line

with rebellion.

Anger

is simple

and made

pure

by

being sure

of owning

the truth.

Maybe

it’s not

youth

so much

as the immature

who wield

such power,

led

by that

towering

inferno.

Battle him!

For the sake

of the republic!

Remaining

democratic

is not automatic.

It requires

an all hands

on deck.

King

The King

from Queens

is such

a drag

with his

endless

brag

and swag;

even taking

credit

for peace

in the Middle

East,

before taking

office

again,

when

in fact,

tact

and negotiation

not merely

inauguration

justify

celebration.

This MLK

Day

is certainly

ironic,

as the iconic

King

of nonviolent

protest

is bested

by the guy

whose cry

to make

America

great

again

will again

be sworn

in

as POTUS.

Not lost

on us

is the oath

taker’s

Oath Keepers

and other

creepers

who violently

stormed

The Capitol,

now watch

triumphantly

as Trump

ceremoniously

takes the oath

of the presidency

half

heartedly

under a

rotunda

so famously

seen

as the scene

of desecration.

It’s an

inauguration

I won’t watch

or care

to see

as the frigid

air

envelopes

more than

DC.

Maybe

it’s

good

that we should

still celebrate

the great

MLK
today,

despite

the awkward

juxtaposition

with

this inauguration.

This once

upon a time

I bend

to the real

King

to bring

me inspiration;

not the aspiration

of a wannabe-

get outta jail

free-

king-like

presidency.

We learn

from

this history;

the good,

bad, and

ugly.
