The Definition of Weird

I wouldn’t say

quirky,

but definitely

jerky.

I don’t think

“eccentric”

so much as

egocentric.

Not normal?

Certainly.

Absurd?

Undoubtedly.

Not what

I’d call

uncanny;

but absolutely

odd.

And lazy.

Not exactly

freaky,

but crazy

like a

Fox.

Unorthodox,

grotesque,

strange,

and creepy.

Not very humorous;

extremely dangerous.

And

just

plain

weird.

Confidence, Man

“Look, Folks”,

as he

would say;

“C’mon, Man!”,

he would

inveigh

that he’s

the best one

and should

and could

finish the job.

So why the

defection

despite

affection?

Everyone knows

the torch

gets passed,

and sees him

past

his prime.

Losing confidence,

questioning

competence,

begging acceptance

of the optics,

is just

not

a good look.

Look, Folks,

he appears

knowledgeable

yet weak

week

after week.

Each moment

on screen

we screen

his condition,

with increasing

attrition,

despite

a great

3 years.

It sears

the heart

and mind

that such

a kind

and effective

politician

against

the definition

of a Confidence Man,

could lose

the coalition

of confidence.

It’s not

the platform

on which

he stands

that demands

change.

He can’t

defend

his own

success,

and we’re

supposed

to pretend

to address

his strength?

The length

of this standoff

between those

with confidence

and those

without

will without

a doubt

be resolved

soon.

(It isn’t yet

because

we can’t

forget

what we

all saw

and fear

each time

he appears.)

I suspect

we can

expect

that after

the RNC

Convention,

convention

will be

upended

and the intended

outcome

of restoring

confidence

will come about

not

with a lout,

but

with a more

youthful

and vigorous

substitute.

As the ever

astute

Confidence Man

who literally

and figuratively

dodges

bullets,

shows strength,

and dare

I say,

discipline,

the energy

and unity

on display

each day

this week

makes

the weakened

opponent

each moment

weaker,

and his party,

now

the one

of

fear

and loathing,

is seeking

some confidence,

and preferably,

a woman.

Add Vance

I knew

he’d add

Vance

to advance

his mission.

But I

was more

surprised

by

Cannon’s

timing

her decision

to throw out

the documents

case.

Boy,

that Cannon’s

got balls!

And

probably,

really,

really,

really

wants

to be

Trump’s next

AG.

Confronting

his own

mortality

as recently

as the

last few

days,

his invincibility

is convincingly

aiding

his legacy

with the next

generation.

The son

he wished

for

is his ticket

and more

for

avoiding

accountability

permanently.

I believe

he now

believes

himself

to be

an extremely

stable

genius.

What once

were schticks

now sticks

like crazy

glue.

It’s a truly

crazy,

newzy

week

after the freak

out

about Biden.

But next week,

the week

after

the mega

MAGA

convention,

JD

as VP

will be

as normal

as whatever

normal

can possibly

be.

Will he

debate

Kamala?

Or will

she be

the one

to advance

beyond

the Hillbilly

Elegy

of JD

Vance?

Let dem

leaders

know

that Joe

should go

out

on top,

and advance

someone

else

or else

this race

is done.

Earshot

What’s overheard

is the herd

of inciters

denying

culpability

when ,

unsurprisingly,

shots were

fired

during

a Trump

rally.

The shooter

was shot

and got

what he

sought,

which brought

instantaneous

blame

on the rhetoric

of the heretic-

laden

other

side.

My initial

reaction

was inaction;

I think

I am numb

at this point.

The violence

expected;

the blame

projected.

I’m glad

that Trump

was protected

and it

only pierced

his ear.

Not that

that’s

nothing;

but we saw

the luckiest

duck.

In a country

run amok

with violent

speech

and hate,

that victorious

fist pump—

symbolic

if not

iconic

of Trump(ism)—

as he was

ushered

off the stage,

fuels

the rage

to engage.

In this first

attempted

assassination

in the social

media age,

we are all

within

earshot

of the next

shooter.

The Escalator

Moving down

the moving

staircase,

(in case

you have

forgotten),

The Escalator

descended

and upended

American

politics

nearly

9 years

ago.

Almost

a decade

of the charades

and parades

of The Escalator

whose descent

has meant

foment

and

torment

with consent

of a once

grand

old party,

now a party

to a criminal.

No longer

liminal

or minimal,

it’s all

so predictable,

as The Escalator,

a dictator

from

day one,

intensifies

what he denies

and defies

with whatever

flies

in the face

of truth,

decency,

or honor.

Ascending

to power

while descending

to shower

the pathetic

with anesthetic;

the feel good

prescription

of the description

of support

that purports

to suggest

that he

is an idea

whose time

has come:

A savior

with bad

behavior.

But he needs

complicity

for his

duplicity,

and pretending

that policy

is really

at issue

is the

connective

tissue

of The Escalator.

The cost

is too great

to amplify

hate

and the haters

he loves

above

almost

anything

except

escalating

lies,

fear,

and threats

as he bets

on getting

out of

jail free,

feiging

a victim

of conspiracy.

Out of order

nearly

a decade

in,

don’t let

The Escalator

win!

Family Ties

The red

ties

were read

as ties

to the defendant,

attendent

to his messaging

and cause:

to bend

the laws,

(if not,

just

ignore them).

The red

states,

“I’m with

him”.

We’re

tied to

each other,

like brothers

from another

mother.

That long

red tie,

so iconic

and symbolic

of fiery

loyalty

to wanna-be

royalty,

is the sartorial

symbol

of The Bully.

The refrain

they maintain

is the stain

on the judge

for his daughter’s

occupation.

A conflict of

interest

is interesting,

except

when

the spouse

of a justice

had a sign

at their house

that read

“Stop the Steal”.

Or the spouse

of another

one

on

the high court

resorted

to texting

the Chief

of Staff

on behalf

of the president’s

grift

on the 6th

of January,

2021.

The separation

of powers

of family

is tricky.

But separating

families

is kind of

on brand

for the head

of that family

business.

While his

kin

are not

seen,

the scene

at the courthouse

from members

of The House

auditioning

for Veep

has them

petitioning

against

family ties

creating

an unfair

trial.

An error

apparent

criticizing

the parent

who is,

in this case,

the judge,

is the predictable

flipped

script

of the hypocrite,

projected

by the guys

in the long

read

ties.

A Chorus Line

One

singular

sensation.

Every

little step

he takes….

to cover

mistakes

or fakes

or just

makes

a new

story

to obscure

the gory

details

of some

deal

he must

conceal

because

in the real

world

it’s a problem.

Auditioning

for the

west wing

or whatever

he

can bring

to their

careers,

the chorus

from

Congress

lined up

to speak

up,

a political

gag

bound

to please

the gagged

sleaze bag.

This stunt

is new,

yet grew

from

the same

transaction

faction

as every

other.

The classless

class

of 24

tried

to score

points

by shaming

the shamed

who were on

the stand

claiming

the truth

about

the one

who insisted

on the Catch

and Kill

and the phony

bill

for legal

services

not rendered.

The chorus

line

is fine

with all

the cheating

while

competing

for a place

in the space

toward

the top

of the

MAGA world.

The prosecution’s

cast

of once

bottom feeders

are the redeemers,

while defending

the indefensible

the should-be

respectable

are despicable

all the way

down the

line.

Hope Against Hope

The devastatingly

beautiful

Trump advisor

gave

devastating

testimony

for the people

versus

Donald Trump.

The stunning

witness

stunned

those present

when

she broke down

and cried

after she

testified

against

her former

boss.

At a loss

facing

cross

examination,

she seems

to have

been

conflicted.

She knew

right

from wrong,

and yet

stayed along

for the ride

until

2022.

She maintains

some

affection,

despite

his deception,

as so many

loyalists

do.

We can

hope

for the best

for the rest

of this trial,

but

I confess

I’m still

rather

nervous.

So far

impervious,

this should

concern

us,

and disturb

us,

as Hope

springs

eternally

grateful

despite

how

distasteful

the candidate

and president

was.

And I

still hope

for the best

for the rest

of us,

that those

who know

better

will ,

at least

privately,

opt

decidedly

for democracy.

Ms. Hicks

seeming

conflicted,

(despite

testimony

as predicted),

depicted

our hope

against

hope.

Asleep at the We’ll

The cult

of personality,

regardless

of criminality

or venality,

reveals

a mentality

of those

who follow

their hollow

leader.

With a wink

and a nod,

and a facade

of leadership,

it’s actually

worship

of dictatorship.

He feign’s

populism

while always

the victim

of a system

that seeks

to convict

him.

Needing support

to pay

bills

(which he won’t

pay),

he shills

to thrills

of Magaworld.

To them,

he

is “we”;

he is their

guy

who will

defy

and deny

endlessly.

Aggressively

fomenting

without

literally

saying,

the wink

and the nod

are  conveying.

Outside

the courthouse

he boo

hooed

his plight,

lying

that his

right

to live

freely

has been

taken

from him.

Yadda

Yadda

Yadda…

it’s all

so exhausting

and seems

to be costing

him.

Day one

of the first

trial,

he was

caught

nodding

off–

unfortunately,

off camera.

Asleep

at the

“we’ll”,

he’ll

be revealed,

but it

remains

to be

seen

when,

and if

it will be

enough.

The Nutcracker

I never understood

how a nutcracker

could

be

a favorite

gift

until now.

Oh how sweet

the suite

has been

this week.

Like the famed

ballet

our nutcrackers

today

are soldiers

of the good

and just.

The Nutcracker

kills

the menacing

7 Headed

Mouse King,

allowing

the land

of the sweets

to thrive.

Earlier this week

The Mouse King

made references

to his preferences

for dictators

and his desire

to hire

those

who will impose

restrictions

and revenge.

But our

Nutcrackers

have been

cracking

while

the nutty

keep attacking,

because

it’s what

they do.

Now Rudy

owes Ruby

and Shaye

a ginormous

pay day,

and more

to come

because

he won’t

succumb

to accountability.

Judge Engoron

closed the door on

the lies

of the “expert

witness”

of the Mouse King.

And Bravo,

Colorado,

for disqualifying

the horrifying

candidacy

of the Mouse King.

Letitia James,

Fani Willis,

Jack Smith,

and so many

other

Nutcrackers

among us,

are doing

the work

of justice

as we wait

for Christmas

whatever

time of year

it comes,

bearing

the gift

of blocking

The Mouse King

forever.
